Each week, the Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Marathon chooses a runner to spotlight as the Michelob ULTRA Runner of the Week. Whether you’re training for a full marathon, going out on the weekend for a long run or getting back into the swing of running, the race loves to showcase its runners.
The marathon is proud to partner with Michelob ULTRA, the Official Malt Beverage sponsor of the Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Marathon. Michelob ULTRA will be sending each winner a prize pack.

How long you’ve been running: 15 years.
Your running story, and if you feel comfortable, your latest PR or race times: I started running 15 years ago to get in shape for my wedding. At the time, it was only a temporary goal to get in shape and I did not have any intentions continuing after. Guess what? I ended up enjoying it so much I continued running after my wedding and it began one of my passions. Over the years, I completed over 100 races which consisted of various distances from one mile through full marathon distance. I’ve completed eight full marathons and 51 half marathons. The half marathon is my favorite distance. The Detroit Free Press Marathon holds a special place in my heart. My father, who passed away in 2011, use to run in the race back in the 80s. He completed the half marathon in under 3 hours a couple times. I would love to run a sub-3-hour marathon one day to honor his memory and keep the tradition going.
How many miles do you run per week: 25-30.
Favorite running song: I do not listen to music when I run. I love to hear the sound of breathing and my shoes hitting the ground. In addition, I like to hear the sounds in the
environment I’m running in.
Favorite post-run snack: Bananas and protein shake.
Best piece of training advice: Consistency is key! It’s best to have a training plan. This will eliminate the guess work and help with accountability.
